When Russian pianist and musicologist Nina Tishkevich founded the Music Academy of Tucson in 1995, on the belief that a music education is essential to the emotional, physical and academic progress of everyone, she envisioned a school where people of all ages, abilities and backgrounds would receive the very best in music education, becoming part of a greater learning community, and in the words of Shinichi Suzuki, “educating a beautiful human spirit.” The Academy provides a rich learning environment where Russian music-school traditions and Suzuki Talent Education form a unique and rewarding educational opportunity. These combined philosophies emphasize quality, discipline, structure, and awareness of self, which develop not only music skills but confidence, self-esteem, concentration and determination to meet artistic challenges.
